The 2014 Gawith lecture was presented by Richard Bernstein, a US Disability Rights lawyer and activist who is blind from birth. As an avid athlete, having run 18 marathons and also completed an iron man event, Richard spoke on the possibilities, hope and challenges faced by people with a disability in today’s society, including his pursuit for justice for people with a disability and his cases against some of the world’s largest firms to ensure access and equity.
